AN ENGLISH GRIDDLE

A traditional English Griddle (12 inch / 30 cm diameter and 6mm thick) is used to bake authentic regional recipes on, such as flat breads, drop scones, potato cakes, pies, English pancakes and pikelets, muffins, tarts and oat biscuits etc. Note: the half-moon shaped handle does fold flat for easy storage.

Being made to a traditional thickness (6mm) Oakden griddles are far more robust than the cheap copies other outlets sell; these inferior, thin copies are no better than a cheap frying pan which will buckle under the heat (creating hot spots) and are not at all suitable for the traditional style of cooking that most traditional recipes call for. An Oakden griddle will last many lifetimes of use and it will retain and radiate the heat necessary (whilst remaining flat) to cook perfectly even the most demanding recipes.

This is a hand-made reproduction, made from an original traditional design hundreds of years old, and, because it is made of a thick steel plate (which is basically like cast iron, without the brittleness) it is able to be used on a wide range of modern convection / induction / radiation cookers and fires.
